A bench from the beam
The larch beam finally became a bench. Nothing clever: two slabs for legs, one for the seat, through-wedged tenons because I wanted to try them and because glue and larch resin are not friends.
Mistakes, for next time:
- Cut the tenons long and trim after wedging. I cut them to length first and one wedge split out the end.
- Larch dust is nasty. Mask, even outside.
- Oil, then wait a week, then oil again. I got impatient and the first coat is blotchy where the resin was.
It weighs a ridiculous amount and it will outlive me. It lives under the rowan now.
